I/S Team Members Take National Role

In July 2022, Kisha Supernant (U Alberta) and Andrew Martindale (UBC) were appointed to the National Advisory Committee on Missing Children and Unmarked Burials. The mandate of this committee is to respond to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Actions #74 to 76 on residential schools Missing Children and Burial Information. The committee's work includes providing guidance for survivors, their families and their communties as they conduct the difficult work of location the gravesites of children missing from Indian Residential Schools, wherever they may be.

Dr. Kisha Supernant is the Director of the Institute of Prairie and Indigenous Archaeology at the University of Alberta.

Dr. Andrew Martindale is an archaeologist at the University of British Columbia and a PI of the Indigenous/Science Research Cluster.
